I see VAVA as one small iteration of a more respectful way of relating to one another and creating a better, richer world for us to inhabit together. To further that vision, I reinvest a minimum of 10% of my earnings in projects that are aligned with VAVA's values.
As a part of the apparel industry, VAVA’s main areas of focus are environmental impact and labor rights, both of which I aim to approach with an intersectional understanding (that is, an understanding of the ways in which systems of inequity related to race, gender, ethnicity, class, nationality, immigration status, ability, and other factors compound with and reinforce one another.) In 2020, VAVA has supported the following environmental and labor organizations:

I also aim to be responsive, having the flexibility to allocate funds to places where they are immanently needed or where there is momentum for change that I can contribute to. 2020 has prompted investment in support for those impacted by COVID, and to contribute resources to the growing movement for racial justice.
